I’ll be reading at North Virginia Community College – Manassas on Friday, October 25th. The event in Colgan Theater begins at 7pm, and will be followed by a booksigning. This part of the event is free and open to the public; the following day’s workshops are for NOVA students only. If you’re nearby, come on by Friday night to warm up for Halloween!
Raw Dog Screaming Press authors signed at bookstores all around Pittsburgh today, and I dropped in to see each one. With help from Diane Turnshek, Laurie Mann and the good folks at Parsec, the event was dubbed “Booksburgh” and every store offered some great discounts and happy surprises along the way. My photos don’t do much justice to the creative energy and frivolity on display this afternoon, but it gives you some sense of the occassion.
The day began with my signing/reading at CMU Bookstore, which was a good warm up act to a series of intelligent and entertaining readings and encounters with authors and readers across town. Pittsburgh really is a great town for book lovers, and Raw Dog Screaming Press — which hails from Baltimore, MD — really is right at home here. This was the line up:
Mike Arnzen at 1pm at the CMU Bookstore – 5032 Forbes, 15213
I’ll be signing books at Carnegie-Mellon University at 1pm on Saturday, 10/19 — part of Raw Dog Screaming Press’ “Pittsburgh Bookshop Hop.” If you come to town, tour the area bookstores and meet all five of the Raw Dog Screaming Press authors who will be on hand across the city. CMU should have copies of my novel Play Dead on hand, along with other titles. I’ll bring some Fridge of the Damned magnets, too.
Mike Arnzen at 1pm at the CMU Bookstore – 5032 Forbes, 15213

Most of these don’t happen until Summer 2013, but I wanted to post these to remind folks who may be making travel plans, since many cons offer discounted rates to early birds. I’ll post updates as new signings and events are arranged.
If you live in the Pittsburgh/Greensburg area, join me for a horror poetry reading alongside writer Stephanie Wytovich at DV8 Espresso Gallery and Cafe in Downtown Greensburg, 7pm, on Nov 10th. We’re informally calling it “Halloween Resurrection.” Come on by; it’s free and freaky. I’ll have my latest books in hand if you’d like to pick up a signed copy, too.
UPDATE: Stephanie has posted a fun Facebook Event page that will be useful for those of you with faces.
[As announced on The Popular Uncanny webpage:]
I will be giving a talk about “The Popular Uncanny”, free and open to the public, at Neumann University (near Philadelphia, PA) on Oct 26th. Come join us at 4:30 p.m. in the Bruder Life Center. In the spirit of Halloween, there will be weirdness, laughter, and intriguing conversation, followed by a book signing for my new, massive poetry collection, The Gorelets Omnibus and other Arnzen titles.
Or check the event information on Facebook.
I will be on hand to sign books at the WVW afternoon event at the Morgantown, WV Barnes and Noble on Saturday, AUG. 25, 1-4 p.m, with the following writers, several of which appear in the book, Many Genres, One Craft.
Writers include: Don Stansberry, Debra Benedetti, Mary Jane Romig, Kevin Murphy, Timons Esaias, Heidi Ruby Miller, Jason Jack Miller, Diane Turnshek, Dave Howard, Barbara Myers, Lily Hamilton.
Our Writing Popular Fiction program at Seton Hill University took over the gymnasium and McKenna Center last night to host a mass book signing, and it was great to see so many new book releases from students, alums and faculty alike. It was fantastic to have two of my publishers in the house — Raw Dog Screaming Press and Headline Books. Here’s a few snapshots from the event. (You can see some from last year here, too.)
Just a brief reminder that I’ll be joining all the alums, students and faculty who are signing books this coming weekend for the In Your Write Mind workshop on the Seton Hill University campus in Greensburg, PA, this coming Friday, 6/22, from 7-9pm in the McKenna Athletic Center.
At the book event (which they’re calling a “Chocolate Covered Mass Book Signing”) on Friday, over thirty writers from an array of genres will be selling and signing their books, including: Kate Martin, Shelley Bates, Victoria Thompson, Meg Mims, Jason Jack Miller, Heidi Ruby Miller, Lawrence C. Connolly, William Horner, Rachael Pruitt, Scott A. Johnson, Sheldon Higdon, Gary Frank, Maria V Snyder, Patrice Lyle, Michael Knost, Geoffrey Fuller, Sally Bosco, Jessica Warman, J.L. Benet, Lynn Salsi, Lee Allen Howard, Lee McClain, Lana Ayers, Nicole Peeler, Ron Gavalik, Barbara Miller, Kristin Dearborn, Anne Harris, Rachell Nichole, John Edward Lawson, myself, and more. My indie publisher, Raw Dog Screaming Press, will be there with copies of my latest book (The Gorelets Omnibus) and launching alum Jason Jack Miller’s new novel (Hellbender). And there will be plenty of contributors to Many Genres, One Craft around to sign copies of the book Heidi Ruby Miller and I edited last year, as well. [We launched the book in a HUGE signing last year at this same event… see my photo coverage of it elsewhere on this website.
Our Writing Popular Fiction MFA summer residency begins this week, and our special guest this term is Donald Maass, agent and author of Writing the Breakout Novel. The alums are simultaneously hosting a feature rich workshop with many interesting guests and workshops — they do this every June and it’s open to all writers, but this year their guest will be the publisher of The Gorelets Omnibus, Raw Dog Screaming Press, and they’re being supported by the Horror Writer’s Association. See http://inyourwritemind.setonhill.edu/ for details about their workshops.
