Scalin’s SKULL A DAY

Here's a fantastic image from Noah Scalin's five-year running SKULL-A-DAY blog, book, and other diverse creative projects. Lots of great art and ideas on his site, which has just been a great, sustained mill of morbid creativity with such a sustained commitment to the project. My favorite, I think, is the image (pictured above) of a "Skull of Brains" that Scalin made by arranging actual brain slices encased in acrylic at the wonderful Mutter Museum. Had fun in Frostburg this weekend for the 2011 Western Maryland Small and Regional Press Festival. Come to the West Maryland Small Press Festival on Oct 15th

The Frostburg State University Center for Creative Writing, in partnership with the Allegany County Library System, is excited to announce that the fifth annual Western Maryland Small and Regional Press Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., at Main Street, Frostburg. The event brings together editors and publishers with writers and educators of the local community. Panel discussions and roundtable sessions include topics on various creative genres, DIY publishing, self-publishing, promotion and marketing, writing local, and reading and writing online.
