Students in our MFA residency at #SetonHill U. – First group to receive the iPad2 #SHUWPF

The entering class of the MFA in Writing Popular Fiction received a free iPad2 from Seton Hill University as part of our campus' "Griffin Technology Advantage" program.  I believe they are the first group to get these devices (last year everyone on campus received a free first-generation ipad). I taught a class in "Critiquing and Clarity" right after they got the devices, and when I asked them to pose for a photo they all immediately took pictures of their faces with the iPad cameras and posed in these clever ways. A fun group of creative folks!

Highlights from the HWA Stoker Award Weekend (June 2011)

I had a great time in New York last weekend, participating in the 2011 Stoker Weekend put on by the Horror Writers Association. The "Stoker Weekend" is an annual professional writer's conference that centers around the Bram Stoker Award ceremony, featuring business/professional meetings, public book signings, panel discussions for the national writer's organization, the Horror Writers Association. I took lots of photos this time around, to try to capture the spirit of the event. Here are some of the highlights from my trip to Long Island: + Was greeted by many old friends and new readers at the massive autograph…

My last batch of photos from the HWA’s 2011 Stoker Award Weekend are now online #stokers #horror #writers

The final batch of photos from the 2011 Bram Stoker Award weekend and Awards Banquet have been posted in the gallery on my website.  Go check them all out at: http://gorelets.com/gallery/events/Stokers11/ I'm getting ready to teach in the weeklong residency of our Writing Popular Fiction program, but will try to write up something resembling a con report soon.  Watch the gorelets weblog for updates.
