Photos from June 2013 SHU Residency in Writing Popular Fiction

Throughout last week, Seton Hill U hosted both our usual MFA writer's residency and a very successful alumni workshop/gathering called "In Your Write Mind," which featured a mass book signing and even a "Princess Bride" costume ball. Raw Dog Screaming Press attended, with pre-release copies of my novel Play Dead and plenty of Fridge of the Damned poetry magnets for sale. On top of all the academics, these folks really know how to have a good time. Here are some images I gathered during the experience. Along with my usual courses, the alumni group also invited me to give a…

COG cover art for Dog Star Books

Earlier I announced new things are coming for Raw Dog Screaming Press -- not the least of which is the rerelease of my novel Play Dead in paperback and ebook in the year to come. As proof of their new energy, here's a sneak graphic that you can dig: the bold cover art by Bradley Sharp for the book, COG by K. Ceres Wright, a cyberpunk title coming in Summer 2013 -- debuting the new science-fiction line, Dog Star Books. Ceres was a great student in the MFA in Writing Popular Fiction program where I teach, and contributed an essay…

Poster for My Horror Writing Class at SHU in Spring

I love my day job, teaching terror. This class in "Horror and Suspense Writing" meets the requirements for our new undergraduate "Certificate in Genre Writing" at Seton Hill University. [Got a BA and looking to write a novel? Then check out our MFA in Writing Popular Fiction!] Recognize the image? That's "The Dark Librarian" from my flickr gallery.

Hazard Yet Forward — New Genre Fiction Charity Anthology

I'm proud of the alumni, students, and faculty in Seton Hill U's Writing Popular Fiction graduate program for putting this new book together, with profits going to assist Donna Munro, a great writer and fellow member of our community who shocked us all by being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. The kindle edition of the book was just released today on amazon for just $9.99. Totally worth it, given that it's got over 700 pages of genre stories in it. I wrote one them (first appearance of my story "The Scraper") as well as the introduction. There are…

New in ebook: Many Genres, One Craft

A quick update to note that the massive fiction writing guide that I co-edited last year, Many Genres, One Craft: Lessons in Writing Popular Fiction, is now available in an affordable ebook form for the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes and Noble Nook. You can learn more about this title, read an excerpt, and even order a copy from the new book page I've added to the jazzy new Books and Other Creative Works catalog here on gorelets.com. Many Genres has not only swept up an astounding number of industry awards, it also is getting rave reviews from writers who…
