MORE Twisted Prompts for NaNoWriMo Writers

Last week I posted a batch of creative writing sparks just for novelists to inspire some craziness during the launch of NaNoWriMo ("National Novel Writing Month") Now it's a week later. Many writers have quit. Still others are beginning to lose steam. So I'm offering another batch of Instigation to possibly keep the fires burning weirdly. Remember: finishing is not enough. You have to GO CRAZY! The glee of the twisted is a communicable disease that many readers love to catch. Good luck. ~~~~~~~~~ + Your character is desperate. Literally have them make a sacrifice. Kindle2 Opens the Ebook Watershed: The Time Has Come

It's time to go ebook, if you haven't already. Today amazon.com releases their next generation Kindle2 ebook reading device, which is now able to pull information out of the (cell phone) wireless networks internationally...and you don't have to subscribe to a cell phone service to do so.  This means that the medium has gone totally global; you can read an ebook anywhere -- and update/sync/buy anywhere, too.  So what? This collection of advice from today's top authors of terror -- from Brian Keene to Joe Lansdale to Michael Laimo to many more -- is a virtual college classroom in a book when it comes to the craft of the crypt. I'm recommending it to all my students in our MFA in Writing Popular Fiction program at SHU. But even if you're not a writer, where else, I ask, can you get such "behind the scenes" insight from your favorite authors? Visit the order…

Paul Wilson, Ramsey Campbell, Brian Keene, Elizabeth Massie, and too many more to list:  from grand masters to rising stars, the book is a treasury of wisdom you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere.  If the (also fantastic) Horror…

Horror Haiku Contest

Jimmy Z. -- the new purveyor of Horror-web.com -- has invited me to judge a horror haiku contest they're presently running, with cash prizes. If you write poetry, or simply love to wax pithy with expressions of zombie philosophy, you still have time to send him your submissions. The deadline is Feb 1st. You might read Ryan Mecum's Zombie Haiku for inspiration.
