Event Type

StokerCon is the annual gathering of authors, critics, publishers and fans interested in the horror genre, organized by the Horror Writers Association, featuring panels, readings, classes and workshops in horror writing — all leading up the grand Bram Stoker Award ceremony.

StokerCon will transpire May 12-15, 2022 at the Curtis Hotel in Denver, Colorado, and will be HYBRID, running a concurrent virtual track.

Registration is required for the conference and Horror University has an additional fee (though some bundling discounts are available).

Fri, 5/13, 1pm: “Professional Ethics: How to Not Be THAT Person” – with moderator Jennifer Barnes and Garol Gyzander, Lee Murray, Cynthia Pelayo and Alec Shane

Fri, 5/13, 2pm: FICTION READING with Arnzen, Carina Bissett and V. Castro

Fri, 5/13, 5pm: Mass Author Signing with virtually all the published writers in attendance

Sat, 5/14, 9am: “Psychological Horror: When the Monster is Human” – with moderator Tim Waggoner, Rhonda Jackson Joseph, Sarah Langan and Steve Rasnic Tem

Sat, 5/14, 1pm: “Folk Horror Revival: When the Old Superstitions are New Again” – moderated by Arnzen, with Jennifer McMahon, Gemma Files, Carina Bissett, Douglas Ford and Douglas Gwilym (also to be livestreamed to virtual con)

Sat, 5/14, 4pm: “Pushing the Envelope: Over the Top Poetry” – with moderator Marge Simon, Angela Yuriko Smith, John Edward Lawson and Sara Tantlinger (also to be livestreamed to virtual con)

Sat, 5/14, 8pm: Bram Stoker Awards Ceremony (livestreamed)

Also on Virtual Con Track: “The History of Horror Publishing” – with moderator Ben Rubin, Tim Waggoner, Ellen Datlow, Angela Yuriko Smith and Maurice Broaddus

The virtual track recordings and livestreams will also be available for an extended period of time following the convention.

  1. I have been publishing a new sub-genre of horror in Los Angeles for 5 years. Author conventions are few and far between here, and I am very excited about the idea of coming out to Denver for this. That said, is this an event where attendees can only attend as spectators, or can they also attend as exhibitors?

      All I can say is: watch their website for details. StokerCon typically has a “dealer’s room” where exhibitors can sell their wares, but they haven’t posted details yet.
